HOW THE PIVOT WORKS
What does the Pivot Aerifier do?
The Pivot pulls a true 3-inch hollow core and captures it in the same pass. Instead of leaving cores across the turf for a cleanup crew, the Pivot collects them as it aerifies.

Does it really aerify and collect cores at the same time?
Yes. Aerification and core collection happen in one pass. That is what makes the Pivot fundamentally different from a conventional aerifier.

What are the tine spacing and operating speed?
The Pivot pulls 3-inch hollow cores on 4-by-4-inch spacing and typically operates at 5 to 7 mph, depending on turf and ground conditions.

What tractor does it require?
The Pivot requires approximately 40 HP. It is ground-driven, so there is no PTO or separate engine to operate or maintain.

WHERE AND WHEN TO USE IT
Where can the Pivot be used?
The Pivot is designed for fairways, tees, rough and sports turf. It is also well suited to municipal turf, parks and athletic fields.

Can it be used on greens?
No. The Pivot is not designed for putting greens.

Can it be used in wet conditions?
Yes. Because the Pivot captures cores instead of leaving them on the surface, wet conditions do not create the same core-cleanup problem associated with conventional aerification. Ground conditions and operator safety should always determine when equipment is used.

Can I aerify after topdressing?
Yes. Fairways and tees can be topdressed before aerification, and the Pivot can operate through the topdressed surface.

LABOR AND COURSE DISRUPTION
Does the Pivot eliminate core cleanup?
Yes. The cores created by the Pivot are captured during aerification, eliminating the separate core-collection operation.

Is the course ready for play afterward?
The Pivot is designed to leave a clean, play-ready surface without rows of loose cores waiting to be collected. Depending on turf conditions, a superintendent may still choose to mow or water afterward as part of the normal maintenance program.

Does it require cart restrictions after aerification?
The Pivot is designed to eliminate the cleanup-related cart restrictions commonly associated with cores left across a fairway.

What happens to the collected cores?
You decide where they go. Cores can be dumped for removal or recycled into thin turf areas, along cart paths, under trees or anywhere the material can be put back to work on the property.

PRODUCTION AND PRACTICAL USE
How often does the Pivot need to be emptied?
It varies with fairway length, soil and moisture. On an average par 4, approximately every two passes is a useful working gauge.

How quickly can it aerify a fairway?
Course layout and conditions affect production time. As a working example, two Pivot Aerifiers operating side by side can typically complete an average par 4 fairway in approximately 30 to 45 minutes.

Is the Pivot practical for an 18-hole course?
Yes. The Pivot was designed for large-area aerification. Combining aerification and core collection into one operation removes the separate cleanup pass, and multiple machines can be used together to increase production.

COMMON QUESTIONS

How much does the collection drum hold?
Capacity varies with soil texture and moisture content, so there is no single fixed volume. On an average par 4, approximately every two passes is a useful working gauge for dumping.
 

Does pulling the cores compact the soil?
No. The Pivot pulls a true hollow core rather than using a solid tine, removing material to relieve compaction.
 

What types of turfgrass can the Pivot be used on, and how often?
The Pivot can be used on all turfgrass types and can be incorporated into aerification programs year-round on fairways, tees, rough and sports turf.

Is this the same as an older drum-style aerifier?
No. The Pivot is purpose-built to pull a true hollow core, capture it immediately and carry the material off the playing surface in the same pass. Similar-looking equipment does not perform the same operation.

We already own an aerifier. Why would we need a Pivot?
The difference is what happens after the hole is made. Conventional hollow-tine aerifiers leave the cores behind. The Pivot collects them as it works, reducing the labor, equipment and disruption that normally follow aerification.

Does the Pivot replace a Core Sweeper?
For cores produced by the Pivot, a separate sweeper is not required. The Pure Turf Core Sweeper remains useful for cores produced by other aerification equipment and other debris-collection applications.
